Safety Switch and Trapped Key Interlock
Mechanical units with electrical release
Electromechanical safety switches with mechanical interlock monitor safeguards. A hazardous area can only be entered after the signal has been released and the key has been entered.
Electromechanical safety switches prevent the opening of an access or a safety gate, until the hazardous area can be entered. Machines or systems which run after or stop after an emergency stop are used in many production processes. Safeguards prevent unauthorized entry and keep the access door closed to the end of the dangerous movement. An access can only be opened when there is no longer a risk and a signal of the machine control has been released to the locking. Only after insertion of the key the safeguard will be unlocked and the access can be opened. As long as the safety gate is opened the key input is blocked. After the access has been closed, the key can be removed again. Only after removal of the key, the locking unit will be activated again and the machine can properly be started again.
